Here you can get an overview of the versatile research tools of our center, which open up the collections of the German Folk Song Archive, the German Musical Archive and the Archive of Pop Music Cultures:

Library Catalogue:
Here you will find books and magazines, occasional essays, sound recordings and videos.

FreiDok:
Here you can search through our collection using the available search tools. You will find sheet music, sound recordings, songs, magazines, posters and programmes. FreiDok also contains electronic publications.

Kalliope:
Here are all collections of the ZPKM (and other institutions) attested and partially detailed, regardless of the type of material or provenance. Here you will also find information about the origin and making of the collection as well as about the collectors.

Schaumburg-Katalog:
Search here in our comprehensive stock of sheet music of bourgeois music culture of around 10.000 titles from the Musikalien-Leihinstitut Schaumburg (Music Lending Institute Schaumberg).

VD Lied (Song):
As part of a DFG grant, 14,000 song pamphlets from the ZPKM collection, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (State library of Berlin) and the Österreichischen Volksliedwerk (Austrian Folk Song Works) have been documented and completely digitised (16th to 19th century).

Individual songs can be researched in the following internet publications of the ZPKM:

Songlexikon (Song Lexicon):
This online publication by the ZPKM contains comprehensive analyses of individual pop songs since the beginning of audio recording.

Liederlexikon (Song Dictionary): This online publication by the ZPKM contains comprehensive analyses and editions of popular and traditional songs.

In addition, there are numerous card catalogues and other search tools in house, by which you can search for songs according to the beginning, writer or composer or subject. It is also possible to search via geographic reference, melody, the source or the printer of song pamphlets. The extensive song documentation of the ZPKM is suitable as a starting point.

In addition, digitised archive material (program booklets, posters, repertories, etc.) of the Staatsoperette Dresden (Dresden State Theatre) can be viewed locally, from the 1947/48 season through to the 2014/2015 season. A download or print option is not available due to legal reasons.

Also accessible in the card catalogue is our collection of poems and songs from the First World War. There is also a catalogue in which the ex libris of our older book collection are recorded by personal name.

The books in our collection which was received before 1995, are for the most part transferred into the online catalogue, but not yet fully. The respective titles can be searched for in our card catalogue in the reading room.
