Projects

In addition to the continuous research work, the Center for Popular Culture and Music also conducts time-limited, theme-centred projects, partly funded by third parties, partly via self-financing. Similarly, these projects should serve the purpose of networking with other scientific partners.
 

Current projects and cooperations at the ZPKM

  • "Vernetzt lernen, forschen, vermitteln". Funding of the ZPKM and four other institutions by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, total funding 250,000 euros, ZPKM’s share: 17,000 euros

  • Exhibition of the ZPKM "50 Jahre Sommer of Love: Woodstock und die Schallplatte" at the Carl-Schurz-Haus from 11 July to 8 September 2017

  • DAAD scholarship for Dr. David Robb (Queen's University Belfast), June-July 2017

  • Promotion of the Song Lexicon of the ZPKM by the Strecker Foundation in Mainz with 25,000 euros.

  • DFG Network: "Americana: Ästhetik, Authentizität und Performance in der US-amerikanischen populären Musik" (see on the left in the subfolder)

  • DFG Project: LIS Program "Förderung herausragender Forschungsbibliotheken" – Aufbau einer forschungsbezogenen Sammlung zur Populären Musik 1950-2000

  • Teaching cooperation with the Institut für Medienkulturwissenschaft and with the Institut für Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie (Universität Freiburg)
